Grief Support & Resources

Grief has many faces and phases. It can consume you and inspire you.

When someone you love dies, try to be compassionate with yourself, as it can take years to move past the shock of losing a loved one. Don’t let the pressure of time force you to move on or feel better – you’ll most likely end up making less progress in your grief journey. Consider these tips for help with grieving someone you love:

  • Light a candle or lantern on their birthday, anniversary, or date of death
  • Find a place to visit that reminds you of that person
  • Volunteer at the same place they did, or volunteer and donate your hours in memoriam
  • Sing one of their favorite songs
  • Cook their favorite recipes and host a dinner with family and friends
  • Create a memorial box where friends and family can add memories
  • Design a special keepsake jewelry item with their handwriting or a piece of their clothing
